The 3,000-year-old remains of a baby have been found during an archaeological excavationat a site in Meath that is believed to be the birthplace of Halloween.

A fully intact skeleton of a baby between seven and 10 months old was discovered at the base of a 1.5 meter ditch at Tlachtga, on the Hill of Ward, Athboy.

Archaeologists do not believe the child was the victim of any type of human sacrifice ritual at the site.

“We may never know what caused the death of the child. The skeleton probably dates back 3,000 years and was found on the bedrock at the base of a 1.5m ditch,” Dr Stephen Davis, lead archaeologist on the site, told the Irish Examiner.

He described the remains, which will be taken to the School of Archaeology at University College Dublin for further study, as “an exciting find.”

Tlachtga, where the the three-week excavation was conducted, has long been believed to have been the first site to celebrate the feast of Samhain, or as it more commonly known today, Halloween.

A 'cursed' church has been saved from closure thanks to a spooky art installation featuring dozens of creepy ghosts.

St George's church in the Czech village of Lukova was left to rot after part of the roof collapsed during a funeral service in 1968.

Believing this to be a sign of bad luck, locals abandoned the medieval church and it was left to deteriorate for more than 30 years.

However local artist, Jakub Hadrava, is now managing to draw in visitors from all over the world with a spooky art installation featuring dozens of ghosts.

White ghostly figures dressed in robes now fill the pews and the aisle of the church and they are attracting hundreds of tourists who are donating their cash to keep the church open.

The strange phantoms are made using plaster and eerie lighting which make the unearthly installation look even creepier at night.

Art student, Jakub said: 'I wanted to install the sculptures on the benches to remind people the church had a history and a past.'

Is this the scariest church in the world? 'Ghosts' fill the pews and locals believe it's cursed

Precious find? 'Gollum-like monster' pictured in China!!!

A Chinese tourist has claimed online to have encountered a human-like 'monster' in a valley in Huairou, Beijing.

The unnamed man was camping with some friends when he encountered the creature, who has an uncanny resemblance to Gollum from the hit Lord of the Rings films, hidden amongst the plants.

'I walked far away to have a pee, and suddenly saw a monster. I took a few pictures of it, but I am now terrified'.

It is still unclear if the pictures are real, but one online commenter who saw the images wrote: 'Over the weekend I and my friends went to the mountains to take a mini sci-fi film. And when I was having a pee a person popped up and took pictures of me and shot away.'
